OXFORD — A Norway man has been charged with breaking into two homes in May and stealing a TV and a chain saw, Oxford Police Chief Jonathan Tibbetts said.
Officer Daniel Hastings of the Oxford Police Department arrested Johnny E. Sweetser, 32, at his home at 9 Skillin Ave. at about 3:16 p.m. Tuesday. He is charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and one count of criminal mischief, the chief said.
Sweetser was being held on $2,500 cash bail at the Oxford County Jail in Paris on Wednesday night after his appearance in Rumford District Court earlier in the day, a corrections officer said.
Tibbetts said Sweetser is accused of stealing a TV from a home on Rich Lane and a chain saw from a home on Farris Point Lane. Both are camp roads off Rabbit Valley Road. The crimes occurred about the same time, the chief said.
The stolen items were recovered and returned to the owners.
“There will be further investigation,” Tibbetts said.
