GREENE — An Auburn man was seriously injured Tuesday night in a head-on collision on Route 202, Maine State Police Trooper Eric Paquette said.
Kristopher Winner of Auburn was traveling south when his Honda crossed the centerline and struck an Audi driven by Vikki Mitchell of Augusta, the trooper said.
Both drivers were alone and transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Winner was going into surgery at 9:45 p.m. Mitchell had minor injuries, Paquette said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, he said.
The accident was reported at 5:15 p.m. and the road was closed until 9:30 p.m. while the investigation was underway and the highway cleared.
Greene firefighters, rescue personnel and United Ambulance responded to the scene.
Both cars were towed.
