FREEMAN TOWNSHIP — A Salem Township woman was injured Friday when her car went off Baker Hill Road, hit a guy wire and struck a tree, Maine State Police Trooper Jillian Monahan said.

Firefighters cut down trees to extricate Katelyn O’Toole, 24, from her 2010 Nissan Altima, Monahan said. The trooper said O’Toole suffered a medical incident, causing her to lose control of the car.

O’Toole was taken by a NorthStar EMS ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington with minor injuries, Monahan said.

A family member took care of two dogs in the car.

The car was totaled, Monahan said.

Phillips firefighters assisted with extrication tools. Franklin County Deputy Sandy Burke also assisted Monahan.

The accident occurred near the intersection with Route 142 and Baker Hill Road was shut down for about a half hour as a tow truck removed the vehicle and Central Maine Power repaired the pole the guy wire was attached to.
