LEWISTON — Walking into the CareerCenter Tuesday, I spied a cool mirror.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest job candidate of them all?

It’s a full-length mirror with all kinds of questions taped to it to help job seekers.

The questions include:

“Would I hire me?”

“Do I make a good first impression?”

“Am I dressed for success?”

“Do I know how to market myself?”

“Do I have transportation?”

“Do I have childcare?”

A note on the bottom of the mirror reads: “If you answered NO to any of these questions, ask how we can help!”

A creative, helpful prop.

December oil bill worth celebrating

On Oct. 25 we had a story about how energy improvements — insulation, a heat pump and hybrid water heater — in our home means we are using far less oil and not much more electricity.

The good news continued Dec. 2 with an oil delivery. It took nine gallons; the bill was $16. The last time we had an oil delivery was May.

It left the oil delivery man puzzled; us smiling.

Our electric bill in November was $73. Did I mention I love the insulation and heat pump?

We can’t get too cocky — this fall has been very warm. Still, it’s worth celebrating.
