LEWISTON — A 26-year-old woman was taken to Central Maine Medical Center Tuesday evening after being struck by a car on Mollison Way.

Police on Wednesday identified the victim as Kayla Toth of Lewiston, who works at a business near the crash site.

According to a friend, Toth, mother of a 3-year-old, broke both arms and suffered cuts to her head. She underwent surgery at CMMC, where she remained Wednesday afternoon.

At the request of the patient, the hospital was not releasing information about Toth’s condition.

The accident, which was reported just before 5 p.m., happened near the Bureau of Motor Vehicles offices.

The driver of the car that struck Toth, 25-year-old Karen M. Johnson of Lewiston, was not hurt.

According to dispatchers calling emergency responders to the scene, Toth was breathing but unconscious in the road after she was hit.

It was dark and pouring rain at the time of the accident. The crash remained under investigation on Wednesday.
