NEW GLOUCESTER — Police said a dump truck loaded with crushed concrete rolled over on Route 100 early Thursday afternoon, injuring a Turner man and closing the highway for nearly three hours.
Investigators said a Peterbilt tri-axle truck driven by Harry Davis, 73, of Turner was headed north on Route 100 near Bald Hill Road when it went into a ditch. The truck struck a culvert and when Davis attempted to right it, it rolled into a Nissan Titan pickup truck driven south by Benjamin Galvez, 57, of Portland, police said.
Galvez was not hurt. Davis was taken to a Lewiston hospital to be examined for what was described as a minor head injury.
The truck is owned by Auburn Concrete, police said.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said the accident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. The road was closed between Bald Hill Road and the Auburn line and reopened about 2 p.m.
The crash remained under investigation later Thursday. No charges were filed.
