LOUISVILLE, Kentucky — Melissa DeStefano of Norway, a student at University of New England, was selected by the Alpha Chi National Honors Society to present her scholarly research presentation in the discipline of Environmental Sciences at the Alpha Chi National Convention in Louisville in April.
The project, “The Packaging Project,” details the ways that companies overuse and misuse resources when packaging goods for fulfillment and how they can alter their processes to go “greener” and be more sustainable.

HUTCHINSON, Kansas — Cassidy G. Pelchat of Lisbon, a student at Hutchinson Community College, has been awarded the Freeman-Asia Award from the Freeman Foundation and was named a Gilman Scholar by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs.
Pelchat will be studying at Shanghai International Studies University in China this summer via Carnegie Mellon University’s study abroad program.
