The remaining gowns were divided between several high schools to distribute to students unable to attend the Gown Giveaway. With our collection of gowns depleted, we are now accepting new or cleaned prom gowns for our 3rd Annual Fairy Godmother Prom Gown Giveaway. Gowns and accessories may be dropped off at the following locations:
- Maine Gourmet Chocolates, 170 Main St., Auburn, and Top It Frozen Yogurt, 168 Main St., Auburn (Check Facebook pages for time).
- University of Maine L-A, Student Success Center, 51 Westminster St., Lewiston, Monday through Friday, 8 to 4:30 p.m.
- 4 Seasons Farm Market, 9 Third St., New Auburn.
- Turner Publishing, 5 Fern St. (corner of Route 4), Turner, Monday through Friday, 8 to 4:30 p.m.
This year, the event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 2. We recommend that the girls (attending a prom anywhere) pre-register for an appointment due to our limited number of changing rooms. Email camashaw@myfairpoint.net or call 713-5888 to arrange for a time. Thank you. — Carol Mashaw.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have had such great luck with Sun Spots that I would like to try one more. I live in Roak Block (senior housing) and we play bingo twice a week. We have a very very old setup that we use and I was wondering if any organization would have a used set-up for sale or for donation.
Our setup is so old we cannot put the number board up on the wall and it takes up a lot of space. Plus, it is ready for retirement. I would welcome any thoughts. You can reach me by email at gileta@roadrunner.com or by phone at 754-8668. Thank you. — Leta, Auburn.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: For the reader looking for breweries, don’t forget Bear Bones Beer which has just opened at 43 Lisbon St. in Lewiston. — Karin.
ANSWER: Thank you for that information. From Bear Bones Brewery’s Facebook page, Sun Spots learned that it is an “independent nano-brewery … with a focus on making high quality sustainable craft beer.”
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I was in the Auburn Wal-Mart on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 10, when I went to the checkout counter to cash out with a gift card. There was not enough on it to cover my purchases. This wonderful lady came over to put in a dollar to help pay for my purchase. I want to thank her so much for doing that for me. I would have had to put it all back. That made my day. Thank you. — C.G., Lewiston.
