1962 – 2016

FARMINGTON — Glenda Joanne Katsiaficas, 53, of Stratton left this world on Tuesday, Feb. 16, after gracing us all with a little more “zang” and love in our lives.

She was born on Aug. 25, 1962, in Corpus Christi, Texas, a daughter of Donald and Yolanda (Hernandez) Alford. She received her education in Texas schools, graduating from high school and went on to attend college. She married Steven N. Katsiaficas on Sept. 18, 1999.

They lived in Key West, Fla., for several years, where she enjoyed working as a bartender and server; they later moved to Maine.

Glenda was a master cook who loved to have her girls over for lunch, and cater weddings with her husband, “Daddy O,” as she called him. She worked at many Sugarloaf establishments as a bartender and server for many years. She also worked at Green Farm Plant Works in Coplin, where she took great pride in selling their products.

Glenda had a green thumb and was very proud of the flowers and gardens that she grew outside her little yellow house that brightened where she and Steve lived. In this house she provided many luncheons that left people feeling comforted and spicy.

Known as “Glenda the good witch,” she was often the first one to start a fundraiser or benefit for anyone in the area and gave fully to helping those in need; she graced so many with her food, guidance, spirit and love of music. She danced like no one was watching and had a repertoire of attending at least 21 jazz fests. She knew every word to “La Bamba” and with her sweet lisp, huge smile, and ability to brighten any room, she made you feel like the most beautiful person alive.

“Love your hair, hope you win” was a common statement that she left you with as she kissed you goodbye, leaving a bright red lipstick mark on your face. We will never forget you, Glenda, and will remember you as the vibrant, beautiful soul that you were.

Glenda is survived by her love of 21 years, Steve Katsiaficas of Stratton; her siblings, Louella Allmandinger and her husband, Mark, of Florida, Donald Alford of Texas, Christian Alford of Louisiana, Oneonta Argueta Alford of Florida, and Magdelena Cordova of Texas.

She was predeceased by her brother, Glen Tecumseh Alford; her beloved father, Donald Ray “Wildcat” Alford; and her mother, whom she loved so much and is now dancing with, Yolanda “Youlee” Barber.

Life does not end, it just changes phases.
