LISBON — A Bowdoin man is in critical condition after his vehicle went off the road Saturday evening at the intersection of Ridge and Gould roads.
Officers at the scene discovered a 2007 Honda Element with extensive damage which had run off the road into some trees, according to a press release from the Lisbon Police Department. Several trees had to be cut in order to remove the car.
The driver, Frederick Field, 52, of Bowdoin, was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by Lisbon Fire Department. Field, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was critically injured and had to be transported by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center, according to the press release.
A female passenger, Erica McIver, 43, of Bowdoin, had managed to get out of the vehicle and crawl to the roadside to seek help. She had been wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
According to CMMC, Field remains in critical condition. He sustained head injuries in the crash, according to Lisbon police.
The crash, which was reported at 11:27 p.m. Sunday, remains under investigation, but speed and alcohol are factors, according to Lisbon police officials.
Officers Shawn Kelly, Andrew Levesque and Jason St. Pierre of Lisbon police are investigating the incident.
LifeFlight, Auburn Rescue, United Ambulance, Lisbon Emergency, Lisbon Fire Department and Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office officials assisted at the scene.
