Endicott announces dean’s list student

BEVERLY, MASS. — Endicott College has announced its dean’s list for fall 2015. In order to qualify, a student must obtain a minimum GPA of 3.5, receive no grade below a C, have no withdrawal grades and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits for the semester.

Benjamin Sawyer of Minot has met those requirements. He is the son of Richard and Brenda Sawyer and is a freshman majoring in sports management.

Residents earn academic honors

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Alexis Leclerc of Auburn and Tyler Zerbato of Turner have been named to the fall 2015 dean’s list at Florida Institute of Technology.

To be included on the dean’s list, a student must complete 12 or more graded credits per semester with a GPA of at least 3.4.

Varney named to dean’s list

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. — Warren Varney of Turner was named to the dean’s list at Logan University for fall 2015. Varney is the son of Pat and David Varney.

To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must achieve at least a 3.5 GPA or above while enrolled in a regular, full-time schedule of classes.

At Logan, Varney is expected to complete a curriculum encompassing basic and clinical (diagnostic) sciences, chiropractic science, research and patient care. To receive the Doctor of Chiropractic degree, a student must complete 10 trimesters (the equivalent of five, two-semester academic years) of study.

Dinsmore candidate for student government

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Kendall Dinsmore of Casco is a candidate for Champlain College’s 2016-17 Student Government.

Dinsmore, who is studying filmmaking and is a member of the Class of 2018, is running for the position of senator.

Hand places first in competition

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Bob Jones University has announced engineering student Brian Hand placed first in the engineering ethics competition at the SoutheastCon Engineering Conference in Norfolk, Va.

Hand, a junior from Farmington, received a $400 cash prize for his first-place finish.

He competed against 24 student teams from universities around the Southeast.

In this competition, students are given a real-life scenario from the engineering workplace in which ethical issues are important. In the first round, students write an essay. In the second round, they give an oral presentation discussing the ethical issues involved in each case and make recommendations. This year’s cases involved e-waste and hacking. Other finalists included The Citadel, University of Alabama at Birmingham, the University of Florida and the University of Georgia.

This year’s competition was BJU’s second visit to SoutheastCon but the first time BJU students have participated in the ethics competition.

Allen attains president’s list

PLYMOUTH, N.H. — Courtney Paige Allen of Lewiston has been named to the president’s list at Plymouth State University for the fall 2015 semester. 

To attain this list, students must have a GPA of 3.7 or greater and be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours.
