Coach: Brian Dube (fifth year)
Conference: KVAC: Class: B South
Last year’s record: 3-13
Returning players: Seniors — Ian O’Donnell (1B/P), Sebastian Lombardi (3B/P); Juniors — Nate Goodine (P/SS), Austin Gilboe (P/SS), Noah Preble (CF), Caulin Parker (C), Devan Pomeroy (2B); Sophomores — Shane Pelletier (LF), Landon Brochu (RF).
Key losses: Bradley Hodges (1B), Matt Vigue (CF/SS), Anthony York (3B/P), Shane Missler (OF).
Promising newcomers: Seniors — Tommy Young (OF), Andrew Darling (OF); Sophomore — Tyler Poisson (C/1B).
Season outlook: Spruce Mountain entered last season without a single hurler that had thrown a varsity pitch and took its lumps against a beefed-up schedule in the KVAC. The Phoenix are much more experienced this year. Preble led the team in batting average each of his first two seasons. Goodine and Gilboe are the likely one-two in the rotation. The addition of Darling, a good overall athlete who hasn’t played baseball since middle school, should help. Dube believes that with an extra season under its belt, Spruce Mountain can contend for the playoffs.
