FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners approved a $1.36 per hour pay increase Monday for the cook supervisor at the jail.
Lorna Nichols has worked for over a year at the jail and has prior experience, Major Doug Blauvelt, administrator of the jail, told commissioners.
Nichols was hired on Feb. 20, 2015. Her hourly pay will go from $15.03 to $16.39.
“She does an excellent job,” Blauvelt said.
Nichols is not eligible for a step increase until after she has worked for the jail for two years, he said.
In other business, county Clerk Julie Magoon told commissioners that she had sent another letter to towns asking for growth rates to allow the county to determine its state-mandated tax cap. The deadline was Monday.
Several have come in, she said. Eustis’ arrived in Monday’s mail.
Outstanding are Industry, New Sharon, New Vineyard and Temple, she said. Industry and New Vineyard never report growth rates, she said.
In another matter, commissioners set a plan to meet at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at the county parking lot, to ride with Road Agent Jerry Haines to view the county roads. They plan to review work that has been done and work that needs to be done.
