AUBURN — Grant Hartley smashed a grand slam in the fifth inning to propel Edward Little to an 8-4 win over Messalonskee in a mid-season baseball tilt on Wednesday.

Austin Brown also contributed for the Red Eddies (5-2) with two hits, while Damien St. Pierre earned his third win of 2017 with seven solid innings.

Tyler Lewis and Carter Lambert led the Eagles (2-6) with two hits apiece, while Tyler Noonan suffered the loss.

Monmouth 6, Telstar 3

MONMOUTH — Senior shortstop Travis Hartford had a double and a single as Monmouth galloped to a 6-3 victory over Telstar in baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

Hartford had an RBI single in the three-run third inning, and an RBI double in the fourth for the Mustangs (2-7). Senior pitcher Hunter Richardson picked up the mound win.

Pitcher Boston Ludden collected a single and a run scored for the Rebels (2-7) in the losing effort.

Oak Hill 9, Mt. Abram 6

WALES — Caleb Treadwell sparked the Oak Hill offense with two hits, two RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored as the Raiders sprinted out to a five-run lead and held off a late Mt. Abram charge for a 9-6 victory in MVC baseball action Wednesday.

Matt Clifford also ripped a pair of hits for the Raiders (3-3). Ethan Barnett earned the win on the mound.

Hunter Bate and starting pitcher Joe Pay each had a pair of hits for the Roadrunners (0-7). May pitched a complete game in the loss.

Madison/Carrabec 8, Dirigo 0

DIXFIELD — A big fifth inning helped Madison/Carrabec to an 8-0 victory over Dirigo.

With one out, Sean Whalen had a triple, Dustin Crawford had a double to drive him in, and then Crawford came home on an Evan Bess triple. They scored one more time in the inning for a 5-0 lead as they scored two in the top of the second.

Madison/Carrabec (5-2) scored three more on a couple of errors. Aaron Morgan had a pair of hits including a double. Dylan Willette had a pair hits including a triple.

Chase Thebarge had two of Dirigo’s (3-6) six hits.

Poland 4, St. Dom’s 0

POLAND — Senior catcher Jake Wiseman clubbed a single and a double for two RBIs as Poland shutout St. Dom’s 4-0 in baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Knights (2-6) scored three runs in the third inning. Senior pitcher Ben Bernier tossed a one-hitter and struck out 10 to earn the mound win for Poland.

Senior Robert Shelley collected the only hit for the Saints (4-4) in the losing effort.

Lewiston 9, Brunswick 3

BRUNSWICK — Lewiston built a six-run advantage in the first three innings and rolled home to a 9-3 victory over Brunswick in more local baseball action Wednesday.

Brock Belanger led the Blue Devils (4-4) with two hits and one RBI, while Eddie Turgeon belted out three hits. Hunter Landry earned the win after working the first three frames.

The Dragons (0-4) utilized Cam Dailey and Cam Labbe on the mound, with starter Daily getting tagged with the loss.

Buckfield 10, Temple 5

BUCKFIELD — Jake Kraske ignited an eight-run third inning that allowed Buckfield to post a convincing 10-5 win over Temple Academy in more local baseball action Wednesday.

Kraske belted a well-time RBI double to break things open in that key third stanza. Ethan Jackson was also instrumental for the Bucks (3-4) with a pair of doubles in the contest.

Jesse Clement led the way for Temple with two hits and two RBIs.

Lisbon 15, Winthrop 4

WINTHROP — Nick Lerette (four) and Noah Austin (three) combined for seven RBIs on Wednesday to propel Lisbon to a 15-4 baseball win over Winthrop.

Tyler Halls also contributed for the Greyhounds (6-1) with three hits and three runs scored, while Ryley Austin also pounded out three hits and drove in a run.

Greg Fay led the Ramblers (4-3) with two hits, highlighted by a double. Cameran Gagnon chipped in with two hits and one RBI for Winthrop.

Saint Dom’s 20, Gardiner 5

AUBURN — Caroline Gastonguay scored seven goals as Saint Dom’s toppled Gardiner 20-5 in girls’ lacrosse action Wednedsay afternoon.

The Saints received offensive support from Avery Lutrzykowski with four goals and two assists, while Rileigh Stebbins and Emma Theriault each scored three goals.

Goalies Abby Slonina and Simone Long combined for five saves in the winning effort.

Messalonskee 10, Lewiston 5

LEWISTON — Ally Turner netted seven goals on Wednesday to propel Messalonskee to a 10-5 vitory over Lewiston in a mid-season girls’ lacrosse tilt.

Lydia Dexter chipped in for the Eagles with a hat trick to complete the scoring. Christine Chasse led the Blue Devils with two goals, while single tallies from Shaima Naji, Erin LaChance and Rachel Ouellette rounded out the final tally.

Gabby Languet made six saves for Messalonskee, while CeCe Racine turned aside 12 shots between the posts for Lewiston.

Edward Little 17, Cony 8

AUBURN — Megan Steele netted nine goals on Wednesday to lead Edward Little to a 17-8 victory over Cony in more girls’ lacrosse action.

Kaylee Jipson raised her game to a new level with five goals for the Red Eddies (1-4), while Piper Norcross tallied two and Haley Frohlich added one.

Lauren Conis led the Rams (2-3) with three goals, while Kami Lambert netted two goals. Single tallies from Cammie Osborne, Faith Leathers-Pouliot and Sarah Caron completed the scoring.

Mariah Vaillancourt made 11 saves for Edward Little, while Sarah Cook-Wheeler turned aside eight shots for Cony.

Buckfield 13, Temple 1

BUCKFIELD — Behind solid pitching and plenty of hitting, Buckfield rolled to a 13-1 win over Temple on Wednesday in a Class D showdown.

Julia Dow was the star in the circle for the Bucks, striking out nine battes and allowing just three hits and one run over six innings.

At the plate, Hannah Shields belted a pair of tripls and finished with three hits, Mackenzie Richardson ripped a pair of doubles and also finished with three hits, and Carley Trimm posted a pair of singles and a triple to pace the offense.

Delaney Carr suffered the loss for the Bereans (2-3).

Poland 14, St. Dom’s 2

POLAND — Jess Pratt ripped a pair of singles and Poland took advantage of several miscues in the field by St. Dominic Academy en route to a 14-2 Western Maine Conference softball victory on Wednesday.

Sarah Walton belted a triple and Ally Gagne and Karley O’Leary added doubles in the winning effort for the Knights (5-4). Tori Tibbets started and earned the win for Poland, and O’Leary finished the game in the circle.

McKenzie Boucher and Allie Veinote each had a double for the Saints (0-5), who plated their two runs in the top of the fourth inning behind those two hits.

Oxford Hills 8, Mt. Blue 3

PARIS — Freshman pitcher Lauren Merrill had a double, two singles and a hit-by-pitch as Oxford Hills sailed to an 8-3 victory over Mt. Blue in softball action Wednesday afternoon.

Left fielder Kayleigh Fontaine made a diving catch for the Cougars in the first inning, ending a three-run rally with the bases loaded for the Vikings (4-3).

Senior center fielder Hannah Kenney contributed a double and a single with two RBIs for Oxford Hills in the winning effort.

AUBURN — Alyssa Smith produced three hits, two RBIs and scored twice as Messalonskee dispatched previously undefeated Edward Little 11-6 in softball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles (3-5) rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh inning for an 11-1 lead. Sarah Labbe had three hits, three RBIs and a run scored for Messalonskee

The Red Eddies (6-1) bounced back in the bottom of the seventh, but only managed five runs for their first loss of the season. Emma Lashua had three hits on two doubles and a single, two RBIs and a run scored for Edward Little.

Carrabec 9, Dirigo 2

DIXFIELD — Sam Lebeau scattered four hits and drew ample run support as Carerabec raced away to a 9-2 softball victory over Dirigo.

Bailey Dunphy led the Cobras (3-4) with a triple and a double. Lilly Williams led the Cougars (2-5) with an RBI double.

Ashley Perreault went the distance for Dirigo and suffered the loss.

Lewiston 12, Brunswick 0

BRUNSWICK — Danielle Cyr struck out 10 batters and received more than adequate run support Wednesday as Lewiston rolled to a 12-0 softball rout over Brunswick.

Emily Mousseau led the Blue Devils (6-3) with four hits and two RBIs. Jordyn Rubin chipped in with three hits and one RBI, while Meagan Gosselin, Jordan Mynahan and Lexi Poulin all belted out two hits and drove in two runs.

Shea Sullivan went the distance for Brunswick (1-8) and suffered the loss.

Oak Hill 24, Mt. Abram 0

WALES — Oak Hill put four runs on the board in each of the first three innings and never eased off the gas, racing away to a 24-0 win over Mt. Abram in more mid-season softball action Wednesday.

Abby Nadeau led the Raiders (3-1) with four hits and four RBIs, while Mahala Smith pounded out four hits and drove in a pair of runs. Charlotte Waterman also contributed with three hits and one RBI.

Summer Ross went the distance for winless Mt. Abram (0-6).

Lisbon 15, Wiscasset 2

LISBON — Lisbon scored three runs in its first at-bat on Wednesday and raced away to record a convincing 15-2 mid-season softball victory over Wiscasset.

The Greyhounds (4-2) put up six runs in the second and five more in the third to take control. Ali Sult led the Greyhounds at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

Leading 3-0, Sydnie Thayer singled and Paige Adams walked for Wiscasset. Thayer beat a throw to third on a ground ball by Casey to load the bases with no outs, and Maeve Blodgett lined the ball off of Lisbon pitcher Alyssa Hall’s glove for an infield single to get the Wolverines on the board.
