FARMINGTON — The town of Farmington, Franklin Savings Bank, the Farmington Hannaford and Franklin Printing as well as a small group of volunteers will have free centennial celebration of Hippach Field on June 18.

The main event is a vintage baseball game between the Dirigo Base Ball Club and the Sunrise Base Ball Club at Hippach Field. The players will be wearing reproduction uniforms and playing with 1860 rules, which includes not wearing gloves. 

The event itself will begin with free hot dogs, chips, drinks and popcorn at Hippach Field beginning at 6 p.m. There will be a program celebrating the field, which includes a short history of the field and a relative of Howard Hippach will throw out the first pitch. The game will begin at 7 p.m. Paul Mills will be the master of ceremony.

There will be other events over the course of the weekend as well.

Narrow Gauge Cinema’s will be holding free matinee showings of the movie Field of Dreams on June 17-19. 

There will also be Model T cars on display and The Farmington Historical Society will have a display on site. They will also be selling Hippach Field centennial t-shirts as a fundraiser.

The food and centennial celebration will be held rain or shine. The game will not be rescheduled in the case of inclement weather.
