First Auburn Seniors to meet

AUBURN — The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, for a regular meeting followed by a chicken barbecue.

Those attending should bring cups, utensils and take-home dishes. 

Bingo will be played after dinner, and tickets will be on sale for the Aug. 17 Tot Lot Picnic $5 each. 

There were 51 members present at the last meeting. Attendance winners were Fran St. Pierre and Rita Gagnon; Pot of Gold, John Watson and Sara Theriault; and 50-50, Diane Vincent, Lucille Dick and Caroline Chapman. 

Sabattus RecBlackjack 5K

SABATTUS — The Sabattus Recreation Club Running Program will hold the fourth annual Blackjack 5K Run/Walk at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at the Oak Hill Middle School on Ball Park Road.

Republican Committee to meet

LEWISTON — Lewiston City Republican Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at the Chamber of Commerce. 

The agenda will include National Republican Convention; district and senate seats; and finance director and Secretary positions.

All Lewiston Republicans are encouraged to attend. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. with light refreshments.

Anchor to discuss being vegan

LEWISTON — Channel 13 anchor Jeff Peterson will present his testimony about what inspired him to become a vegan at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at The Ark & Olive Branch Cafe, 791 Lisbon St. 

Since changing his diet in 2012, Peterson has lost over 50 pounds and his cholesterol has dropped, and he believes his lifestyle change contributed to this.
