PARIS — Bessey Motors and Franklin County split their doubleheader on Saturday. Bessey took game one, 8-4, while Franklin notched a 7-4 victory in game two, securing a playoff berth in the process.
Emery Chickering notched an inside-the-park home run in game one for Bessey (10-8) and also went 2-for-4 in the game. Blake Slicer also went 2-for-4 with three runs scored. For Franklin County, Ethan Andrews and Colton Lawrence each had a hit and a run scored.
Miles Pelletier paced Franklin’s (4-14) bats in second half of the doubleheader, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Andrews had two hits in the game.
Brady LaFrance pounded out two hits for Bessey and a run scored while Matt Smith had an RBI
Rogers sweeps Locke Mills
BETHEL — Lew Jenson had himself a day for Rogers Post in its doubleheader sweep of Locke Mills. In game one, he drove in three runs and scored three runs on two hits in a 17-6 victory. In the second game, he had four hits, including a grand slam in the second inning, as Rogers Post held on for a 14-11 victory.
Grant Hartley helped Rogers (15-3) in the first game with three hits, including a double. Austin Cox, Ben Harris and Gavin Bates had doubles, as well, while Tyler Blanchard and Drew Lashua had triples in the victory. Lashua also scored four runs. Jarod Norcross-Ploude belted a home run.
Jake Kraske and Josh Eliot had triples for Locke Mills (7-11).
Cox and Blanchard each had three hits in the second game, and each had two doubles. Chase Harkins and Kyle Joseph each had a pair of hits, including a two-bagger each, for Locke Mills, which rallied valiantly in the closing innings, only to fall just short.
