The court found Thursday that Robert Nadeau used his position to attempt to influence the outcome of a personal legal case in which he was seeking protection from a harassment order against his former girlfriend.

It found that Nadeau improperly invoked his status in a letter he wrote to his ex-girlfriend’s attorney in 2013 saying the litigation would “become very bad” for his ex-girlfriend, the attorney and law firm.

He was formally reprimanded and ordered to start serving his 30-day suspension on Oct. 3 without pay.

Nadeau has been disciplined in two prior cases.

He told The Portland Press Herald he disagrees that he behaved improperly by sending the letter.
