DEAR SUN SPOTS: I dropped my camera at the Great Falls Balloon Festival last night, Sunday, Aug. 21. I was hoping an honest person would find it and return it. It has over 800 pictures of this past year’s travel on it. Please call (207) 713-9933. Thank you. — David, Sabattus.
ANSWER: Okay, readers, it’s up to you! Please help spread the word to locate and return David’s priceless photo memories.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there anybody who drives families to the Portland airport from Lewiston? I need your help again. What would it cost to go and be picked up after one week? We will be five adults with five children under 8 years old. I assume they would need a large van. Thank you. — No Name, Lewiston
ANSWER: There are a couple of shuttle services around that offer transportation from the Lewiston area to the airport and that even have a large van for multiple passengers. One of those is Good Times Shuttle, based out of Saco, which offers charter rates beginning at $60 an hour for up to 12 people. You can reach them by calling (207) 400-4560.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Save the date! Sept. 17 is Maine Outdoor Weekend. The Auburn Recreation Department, the United New Auburn Association, the Androscoggin Land Trust and other local businesses are joining together to celebrate the confluence of the Little Andy River and the Androscoggin River with a full day of events in the beautiful village of New Auburn.
We need participants and volunteers to help with our daylong celebration.
In the planning stages are kayak, canoe and paddleboard demos, lessons and rentals, fishing demos, live music and an outside brunch buffet along the river. Also in the planning stages are street vendors, information booths, a farmers market and at least two community yard sale sites.
For more information about how you can become involved or set up as a vendor, contact Sabrina Best at (207) 333-6601 ext. 2102 or send an email to sbest@auburnmaine.gov. To register for the yard sale sites and to reserve a space, contact Ken Blais at (207) 753-0171. To register for the farmers market, contact Kathy Shaw at (207) 320-1969 or by email to kath@valleyviewfarmme.com.
Thanks for all the great community service functions that you help support. — Kathy Shaw, Valley View Farm and 4 Season Farm Market, New Auburn.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to pass on this information: I would like to let you know that “Twin City Cleaners” has been closed since the end of June. They used to send their alterations to Chez Dorea seamstress, and I was very pleased with the work she did and her prices were reasonable. She did very good work. She is still available to do work for the public at 1 Brule St. in Lewiston. Her hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Her telephone is (207) 333-0755. Thank you for your attention to this matter. — No Name, Lewiston.
