AUBURN — The City Council voted 7-0 Monday night to amend the tax-increment financing agreement for a proposed housing development at 62 Spring St.

Portland developer Ethan Boxer-Macomber of Anew Development asked councilors to extend the district by five years and for $250,000 of the city’s federal HOME fund allocation. Councilors approved versions in 2014 and 2015.

The 39-unit development is designed to replace the former Dillingham Funeral Home on Spring Street.

Councilor Ernestine M. Gilbert was happy to see the agreement finalized. “I’ve seen that parking lot over there empty for too gosh-darn long,” she said.

In the TIF application, the project is described as a “desirable mixed-use mixed-income housing development.”
