UPDATE: Husband charged in Fairfield woman’s death
FAIRFIELD — Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service found a woman’s body Tuesday afternoon on the property of a missing Fairfield woman.
Maine Public Safefty Spokesman Stephen McCausland says the body will be transferred to Augusta for an autopsy. McCausland would not call it a homicide investigation but a “death investigation.” More details and an identification would follow a medical examiner’s report.
Investigators with the Maine State Police continue to search the property at Luc Tieman’s parents’ home using different tools to try to get into the woods.
When wardens and state police arrived on scene Tuesday morning they say within four minutes, K-9 units had discovered the body about 300 yards into the woods.
Officers say their investigation led them to the Fairfield home because it is where Valerie Tieman and her husband Luc had been staying
It’s owned by Luc’s parents.
Luc told state police that he and is wife were at the Wal-Mart in Skowhegan. She stayed in the truck when he went into the store, but she was gone when he returned.
Investigators say they found no evidence at that Wal-Mart which lead them to the search.
No charges have been filed, and police say the family is cooperating.
Investigators say they expect to be on the property throughout the night searching.
They also say they hope to get the results of the autopsy on the body sometime Wednesday.
