The Golden Trojans finally got a push, but they were still able to fend off a Windham team that is better than its 2-2 record.
2. Bonny Eagle (4-0) (2)
The Scots won another laugher, beating Massabesic on the road 52-6. Only strength of schedule has kept them from overtaking Thornton.
3. Portland (3-1) (3)
The Bulldogs put away a pesky Oxford Hills/Buckfield team to move even further away from that week one loss. A rivalry clash with Cheverus awaits.
4. Biddeford (4-0) (5)
The Tigers have played a difficult schedule so far, and have come out of it unscathed. They aren’t always pretty on offense, but the defense makes up for that.
5. Brunswick (4-0) (4)
The Dragons win 42-0 and drop a spot? Only because Biddeford has played tougher teams. Now Brunswick travels to Skowhegan for its first true test.
6. Scarborough (3-1) (7)
The Red Storm had to go on the road and beat an always-tough Sanford team. Now the Storm returns home to host Thornton Academy. Talk about tough.
7. Brewer (4-0) (NR)
Beat Skowhegan to move to 4-0 and you get a spot in the top 10. The Witches have been just on the outside all season long, and now prove they belong.
8. Wells (4-0) (9)
The Warriors move up in part because Winslow lost for the first time in forever, but also because they walloped Mountain Valley. Now a clash with Yarmouth awaits.
9. Kennebunk (4-0) (NR)
The schedule has been kind to the Rams, but they have won what they’ve been given while other teams drop from the ranks of the unbeatens. And they did just handle a good York team.
10. Madison/Carrabec (4-0) (NR)
The Bulldogs ended Winslow’s 25-game winning streak to enter the rankings. They might have deserved to be here earlier, thanks to an undefeated start against a not-so-easy schedule.
