Kennebec Land Trust has announced its upcoming presentations:

Apple Presentation with John Bunker, Maine Apple Expert: Viles Orchard, Augusta, Friday, Oct. 14, 4 to 5:30 p.m. Talk by John Bunker, Maine’s apple expert. Bring apples for identification. All ages welcome. Free, but a $10 donation is suggested. Preregistration is required.

Concert with Joelle Morris, mezzo-soprano; Bridget Convey, piano; and Brian Meldrum, piano: Viles Homestead, Augusta, Friday, Oct. 14, 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. In honor of the salon gatherings that were so popular at the turn of the century, Joelle Morris, mezzo-soprano, along with Bridget Convey, piano, and Brian Meldrum, piano, will perform a mix of classical music, art songs and English parlor songs. Attendants will gather in the piano room of the Viles Homestead. Tickets: Front three rows, $25; all other seating, $15. Proceeds will benefit The Kennebec Land Trust land conservation programs. Family Forestry Day: Curtis Homestead, Leeds, Saturday, Oct. 22, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Learn about forest stewardship, sustainable timber-harvesting practices, and tree identification through a series of demonstrations with presentations from a forester, logger, saw mill operator and log scaler. The program is geared to third grade through adult. The forestry program will take place at Gov. Ken Curtis’ childhood home, KLT’s 360-acre Curtis Homestead Conservation area in Leeds, and will be a great opportunity for anyone who may be considering careers in forestry, wildlife management, or related outdoor work or interested in learning more about forest stewardship.
