LIVERMORE FALLS — The Regional School Unit 73 board of directors Thursday approved the Spruce Mountain High School senior class trip planned for next spring.

“We’ve been really fortunate to have really good fundraising tactics,” class President Nate Steele said. He said the class has raised more than $10,000 for the June trip, thanks in part to selling mattresses, grilled cheese sandwiches at the Apple Pumpkin Festival, and having a Haunted Trail hosted by Livermore resident Merry St. Pierre.

“The class has done a wonderful job,” adviser Chris Ellingwood said. “I’m going to miss this class when they leave. When it comes to fundraising, school spirit, school involvement, it absolutely amazes me what these students have done.”

Steele said they will leave the school during the evening after graduation for Portland for a cruise on Casco Bay Lines. They will return in the morning and have breakfast in a classroom at Spruce Mountain Middle School.

“We can bear all costs,” Ellingwood said. “We are not asking for any financial support, just the use of the (RSU 73) buses.”
