Social media are dangerous. It seems as though every night on the nightly news someone is succumbing to the danger of various social media — whether it be sexting, child porn, prostitution, drug running, human trafficking, or bullying and destroying one’s confidence to the point that they commit suicide.

I have dismissed myself from Facebook and other forms of media, not only for my own safety, but also a little piece of mind. I have also ditched the Internet and refuse to have a cell phone.

On Monday, Dec. 5, I read that state senator-elect Justin Chenette, D-Saco, finds the so-called lack of transparency of the state police “troubling” when it comes to keeping a watchful eye on social media. The police have a hard enough time keeping law and order due to a broken justice system and politicians that insist on pushing political correctness.

I find politicians such as Chenette troubling. The last thing the police need is another out-of-touch politician making it more difficult for them to keep the public safe.
