LEWISTON — A Lisbon woman arrested in a September stabbing appeared in court Wednesday on related charges.
Lindsay Knight, 38, of 244 Lisbon St. was charged with aggravated assault, a Class B felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. She also was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
Knight was approved Wednesday for partial funding of a court-appointed attorney, but she didn’t enter pleas on the record to the charges because they are felonies.
Eighth District Court Judge Rick Lawrence told Knight she was entitled to have an Androscoggin County grand jury consider the charges and decide whether there is probable cause to hand up an indictment on the charges. If so, she would be arraigned at that time.
Lawrence continued Knight’s bail at $500 cash with conditions that she refrain from possession of alcohol and illegal drugs for which she can be searched and tested if suspected of having them. Knight also is prohibited from having dangerous weapons. She is barred from having contact with the named victim in the case and a witness identified by police.
Police said they responded to a report of three people, one man and two women, shortly before 2 a.m. in the Farwell Mill Apartments parking lot in Lisbon on Sept. 25.
Responding officers spoke to the man and one of the women. The other woman apparently had fled the scene after she had reportedly been stabbed in the arm and neck.
A canine search took place, using blood found at the scene.
Lisbon police found the victim, a 32-year-old woman, around 6:30 a.m. at a nearby apartment. Police said she had wounds consistent with being stabbed. She refused medical attention.
Police said they recovered the knife used in the stabbing.
Knight is due back in court in April for a conference to discuss the disposition of her case.
