1925 – 2017
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Helon Emile Turmel, 91, of Meddybemps and Daytona Beach Shores, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 25, in Providence, R.I.
He was the son of Prosper and Rosee Turmel of Jackman. He was married in 1945 to Florence Turmel, his wife of 71 years. Helon was a World War II veteran and D-Day survivor and was awarded the Bronze Star and Legion of Honor (France) among other awards for his service. They made their home in Lewiston, Meddybemps, and Daytona Beach, Fla. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. Helon was the owner of Turmel Appliance Service, a family business for more than 25 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Nadeau; his son, Eric; two grandchildren; his sister, Eleanor; his brother, Ivan (Dody); many nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
He was a wonderful, husband, father and friend and will be dearly missed for his strength, kindness and dedication to family and friends.
