1922 – 2017
AUBURN —Vieno Marion Glines, 94, of South Paris passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Hospice House.
She was born in South Paris on Aug. 13, 1922, the daughter of Charles and Alma Ruuska Whitman. She graduated from Paris High School in 1941 where she played basketball. Vieno married Donald M. Glines on March 3, 1943. She worked at A. C. Lawrence Leather for 27 years, then at the Oxford County court house. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was very active. She enjoyed picking berries, camping and walking and was very proud of her Finnish Heritage and being able to go back to Finland to see her homeland.
Vieno is survived by her children, Bruce Glines and wife, Susan, of West Paris, and Pamela Tebbets and husband, Charles, of Lisbon; grandson, Jason and wife, Christie, and great-grandson, Owen Tebbets, all of Lisbon; her sister, Martha and husband, Gordon Edgar, of New Hamphire; many nieces, nephews and cousins and their families; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Whitman of Florida, Beverly Glines of Norway and Marlene Glines of Lewiston; and two great-grand dogs, Emma and Brandy.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, on Sept. 26, 2008; four sisters, Annie Thompson, Ida Whitman, Lempi Thompson and Tekla LaFrance; a brother, Oiva Whitman; two brothers-in-law, Robert Glines and Merle Glines; and a sister-in-law, Nellie Whyte.
