OTISFIELD — The Board of Selectmen will continue to discuss the status of the Pleasant Lake Dam on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Otisfield Town Office.
Casco and Otisfield selectmen received a report in 2014 from the Maine Emergency Management Agency about leaks and deterioration at the spillway dam beside Route 121 in Casco. The towns faced significant fines from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection if the dam failed.
The dam controls the level of water in the 4-mile lake, which lies in both towns. The lake has private camps, cottages and homes along it, as well as the Seeds of Peace International Camp on the western shore and Camp Arcadia for Girls on the eastern shore, both in Otisfield.
During an interview Jan. 23, board Chairman Hal Ferguson said new developments include an increase in the dam’s cost because of complications from winter events.
Other items on the agenda include discussion of a possible revaluation timeline and department head reports.
