LEWISTON — Wicked Illustrations Studio and Gallery is featuring the work of David Wulbrecht for the month of June.
Wulbrecht, an art aficionado and collector, was inspired to begin painting about 14 years ago.
As a lover of 19th century French Impressionists, then the European post-impressionists, and finally 20th century American Abstract Artists, these movements helped shape his own art, which is most closely aligned with the last group.
He uses acrylic and oil paints, any and all instruments to create, and he hopes his pieces portray their own sense of vibrancy and beauty. As he describes his art process in creating abstracts, “I mostly splash paint around and occasionally something very interesting shows up. I may not have more artistic ability than the average person, but have a gift for color and space, and an open mind to any creative process.”
His art is hanging in homes from Maine to California.
Wulbrecht resides in Falmouth. When he is not painting, he is a full-time business consultant.
Wulbrecht will be at downtown Lewiston’s third Friday Art Walk from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 16, at Wicked Illustrations, 140 Canal St.
