FARMINGTON — With results from nine of 10 towns reported late Tuesday, the Regional School Unit 9 budget was failing by a vote of 1,426 to 1,532.
New Vineyard had not reported results as of 10:30 p.m.
The proposed budget of $33.89 million represents a $1.14 million increase over the current budget.
The statewide $317,834 capital improvement bond was passing by a vote of 1,368 to 1,145 in the 10 towns.
Chesterville residents opposed the school budget in a 61-183 vote and also rejected the bond question, 74-161.
Farmington voters passed the school budget by a vote of 644-501. They approved the bond question by a vote of 663-458.
Industry voters rejected the budget in a 65-89 vote. They also opposed the bond question, 71-83.
New Sharon residents opposed the budget 139-207. They also nixed the bond 126-216.
Starks residents approved the budget by an 84-19 vote. Voters approved the bond question, 84-19.
Temple voters rejected the school budget by a vote of 65-75 and approved the bond question, 72-70.
Vienna residents approved the budget by a 61-57 vote. They also approved the bond, 65-54.
Voters in Weld rejected the school budget by a vote of 34-52 and the bond projects by a 34-52 vote.
Wilton voters opposed the budget by a 273-349 vote and approved the bond question, 303-250.
The bond, which covers several capital improvement projects, is to be repaid over 10 years at an estimated annual payment of $30,217, based on an estimated 3½ percent interest.
