SKOWHEGAN (AP) — Officials are investigating a number of cars being set on fire and vandalized in one Maine neighborhood.

Skowhegan police say they’ve alerted the state fire marshal’s office after receiving a series of calls about cars being set on fire early Monday morning.

The suspected arsons were all within a few hundred yards of each other in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Interim Police Chief Joel Cummings tells the Morning Sentinel the five cars were burned to varying degrees.

Three of the vehicles sustained heavy interior damage, and at least one car was completely destroyed.

No arrests have been made and officials are continuing to investigate.
