Richard A. Martel
LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Richard A. Martel was concelebrated Tuesday by the Very Rev. Lionel Chouinard and Monsignor Marc Caron at Holy Cross Church of the Prince of Peace Parish. At the beginning of Mass, Richard’s six children draped their father’s casket with the white burial pall that represents Richard’s Baptism into a new life with God. Then Richard’s wife, Celine placed a crucifix of the risen Christ on top of her husband’s burial pall. Readings were read by Richard’s close friend, Marcel Morin. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Richard’s grandchildren, Nicole Marshall and Kayla Carr. Words of remebrance were shared by Brother Irenee Richard, OP who shared how much his friend had given so humbly in service to the parish, his support of our Catholic schools, as well as his service to St. Martin de Porres. After a procession to St. Peter’s Cemetery, committal prayers were recited by Father Chouinard, Brother Richard, and Marcel Morin, then close family friend, Marc Poirier recited a special poem in tribute to Richard to conclude services. Pallbearers were Christopher and Richard Martel, Alex and Morgan Corbett, Jonathan Marshall and Bradley Carr. Arrangements by Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home.
