AUBURN — The Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m. There will be a food auction and members are reminded to bring homemade goodies. Fall garden flowers and vegetables are also welcome. If one prefers not to cook, cash donations may be made.
Tickets will be on sale for the Halloween luncheon, for $4, to be held Wednesday, Oct. 28; for the Thanksgiving luncheon, $5, Nov. 11; and for the Christmas luncheon, $5, Dec. 9. Members may pay for the three tickets with one check.
When the group met Sept. 23 under the direction of the president, Virginia Houston, 53 members were present. The president welcomed Bernice Brooks back from her illness and Charles and Solange Berube were announced as new members. Membership chairwoman Lucy Cowles reported dues for 2010 could be paid any time now as there are no meetings in November and December due to the holidays.
Jean Doyon stated she will have a trip to Hollywood Slots, Bangor, on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and the bus will leave the Colisee at 7:15 a.m., price is $24. For more information, call Jean at 784-5264.
September birthdays were acknowledged and the “Happy Birthday” song was sung.
Attendance prize winners were Edwina Bonney and Pat Donohue; pot of gold, George Herrick, Mary Tyler and Donald Doyon; mystery prize, Nancy Roy, Bernice Brooks and Shirley Huntley.
At the close of the meeting and following a boxed lunch, members played bingo.
With trip chairwoman Evelyn Sawin in charge, 48 members and friends of Robin Dow Senior Citizens left Auburn by bus and traveled to Lincoln, N.H. on Oct. 2. Upon arrival they changed from the bus to board the “Hobo Railroad” for a train ride to view the fall foliage. A full-course turkey dinner was served on the train during the ride.
