PITTSFIELD — Senior point guard Alex Bessey scored her 1,000th point as Spruce Mountain upset MCI 51-48 in girls’ basketball action Friday evening in a last-ditch effort to reach the postseason.

The Huskies (12-6) led 31-22 at the half, and junior point guard April McAlpine sank 13 points for MCI.

But behind Bessey’s 19 points, and another 16 from Haley Turcotte, the Phoenix overwhelmed the Huskies in the second half to earn the win.

Oxford Hills 47, Leavitt 15

PARIS — Maighread Laliberte and Julia Colby punched in 12 points apiece as Oxford dHills captured a 47-15 victory over Leavitt in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Vikings tabulated 27 points over the middle two quarters. Jadah Adams added another nine points for Oxford Hills.

Shannon O’Malley drizzled in a team-leading six points for the Hornets in the losing effort.

Mt. Abram 42, Carrabec 39

SALEM — Lindsay Huff drained 18 points to lead Mt. Abram to a 42-39 victory over Carrabec in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Roadrunners (10-8) pulled ahead in the fourth quarter with a 12-7 run. Meg Sorel and Summer Ross contributed nine points each for Mt. Abram.

Bailey Dunphy provided a team-high 11 points for the Cobras (3-15), while Maddie Hughes posted nine in the losing effort.

Hebron 36, Greater Portland Christian 20

HEBRON — Sophomore guard Franceska Halloran poured in a team-high 14 points as Hebron coasted to a 36-20 victory over Greater Portland Chrstian in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Lumberjacks (11-6) took an 11-0 lead in the first quater, and scored the first 10 points in the second half for a 20-point lead before relaxing a bit.

Junior guard Maddy New posted four field goals, including two from three-point range for Hebron. Eliza Quinones had nine rebounds and nine steals.

St. Dom’s 52, NYA 35

AUBURN — St. Dom’s used a 17-4 second quarter to pull away from North Yarmouth Academy in a 52-35 Western Maine Conference victory.

Becca Zimmerman poured in 12 points to lead the Saints (6-12), while Allie Veinote added nine points and Chloe Dwinell eight points. Maggie Larson tallied a game-high 22 points for the Panthers (7-11).

Lewiston 42, Bangor 34

LEWISTON — Morgan Eliasen turned in a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Lewiston to a 42-34 victory over Bangor in their KVAC finale.

Skylar Gaudette added seven points for the Blue Devils (9-9). Katie Butler led the Rams (8-10) with 14 points.

Monmouth 47, Lisbon 44

MONMOUTH — Nick Dovinsky hit a 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds left to give Monmouth a 47-44 win over Lisbon in an MVC barn-burner.

Dovinsky’s only points of the game came after Hunter Richardson pulled the Mustangs into a tie with a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left and Monmouth forced a five-second violation on the Greyhounds’ ensuing attempt to inbound the ball.

Richardson finished with a game-high 21 points for Monmouth (5-13). Jonah Sautter led Lisbon (9-9) with 15 points while Tyrese Joseph added 11 points.

Bangor 57, Lewiston 43

BANGOR — Ian Nagle scored a game-high 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Bangor past Lewiston, 57-43, in both teams’ KVAC season finale.

George Payne chipped in with 13 points and Damian Vance 12 points for the Rams (7-11). Luke Madore paced the Blue Devils (3-15) with 12 points, while Desmond Jackson added 10 points and Ibn Khalid contributed eight points and 12 rebounds.

Gray-NG 53, Poland 51

POLAND — Sophomore guard John Martin recorded a game-high 19 points to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 53-51 triumph over Poland in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Patriots (9-9) were engaged in a back-and-forth contest throughout. Junior guard Josh Rottari produced 13 points for Gray-New Gloucester.

Martin and Rottari combined for seven field goals from three-point range.

Senior forward Caleb Hodgken notched 17 points for the Knights (6-12), while senior guard Kurtis Legiton collected 15 points in the losing effort.

Oxford Hills 67, Leavitt 62

TURNER — Sophomore forward Matthew Fleming tickled the twines with 20 points as Oxford Hills sailed to a 67-62 victory over Leavitt in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Vikings (17-5) responded to a late game surge by Leavitt with back-to-back three-point baskets to answer the Hornet’s (4-14) back-to-back threes. Senior forward Atreyu Keniston pitched in with 14 points for Oxford Hills.

Senior forward Jack Sylvester nailed down 22 points for Leavitt, while junior gaurd Tim Albert tallied 14 points and Cole Morin hauled down 14 rebounds to go along with his 11 points in the losing effort.

Edward Little 86, Mt. Ararat 55

AUBURN — Senior forward Jarod Norcorss Plourde ripped up the floors with 31 points and five steals as Edward Little soared to an 86-55 victory over Mt. Ararat in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Red Eddies (17-1) put up 20 or more points in every quarter. Senior guard Samatar Iman added another 19 points for Eward Little .

Junior guard Cam Mello grabbed a team-leading 18 points with four baskets from beyond the arc for the Eagles (4-14) in the losing effort.

Spruce Mountain 47, MCI 31

JAY — Senior point guard Austin Darling led the Phoenix with 22 points as Spruce Mountain earned a 47-31 victory over MCI in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

Senior center Caulin Parker banked 11 points, and Andrew Shaw secured 10 rebounds in the second half for the Phoenix (15-3).

Senior guards Owen Williams and Adam Bertrand scored matching nine points for the Huskies (6-12) in the losing effort.

Lisbon 43, Oxford Hills 33

PARIS — Amanda Mason scored 12 points to lead Lisbon to a 43-33 victory over Oxford Hills in Unified basketball action Friday evening.

The Greyhounds received offensive support from Jake Patenaude with nine points, and Misty Coleman and Dawson Martel with six points each.

Branden Skinner tossed a game-high 13 points for the Vikings, while Brandon Robare had eight.
