SOUTH PORTLAND — Central Maine Community College looked like a top-ranked team in its Yankee Conference Elite 8 Tournament opener Thursday.
The No. 1 Mustangs stampeded the Hampshire College women’s basketball team 99-39 thanks to a dominating second quarter that included a couple 12-0 runs. Leading the charge was Brooke Reynolds, who scored 17 of her game-high 19 points in the first half.
Three other players reached double figures for CMCC. Tianna Harriman and Rylee Mooreeach scored 11, and Holly Decourcey finished with 10, seven of those coming in the second half. Seve Deery-Deraps added nine points in the win.
The Mustangs forced 46 turnovers.
Katharine Dimitruk led the Black Sheep with 11 points.
CMCC advances to face fourth-seeded University of Maine at Augusta on Saturday at noon.
