Employees at the Oxford County courthouse on Western Avenue in South Paris were forced to cordon off the back entrance of the building after a large piece of ice on the highest point of the roof came loose. It slid to the edge, teetered there and caused some roof tiling to come loose. An employee said she hopes that by Wednesday morning, the ice chunk will have melted enough to allow it to fall safely.
Employees at the Oxford County courthouse were forced to cordon off the back entrance of the building after a large piece of ice on the highest point of the roof came loose. It slid down to the edge of the roof and teetered there, held in place by a thin metal bar. A courthouse employee pointed out that the impact of the ice against the bar caused some of the roof tiling to come loose. She said she hopes that by Wednesday morning, the ice chunk will have melted enough to allow it to safely fall down.
