HARTFORD — Michael “Mike” Whittemore, 65, a resident of Hartford, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, at his home.
He was born Sept. 29, 1951, in Farmington, the son of Wilfred Whittemore and Eleanor (Jones) Whittemore. He was a 1970 graduate of Jay High School.
Michael served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Saratoga. He worked construction as an iron worker and pipe fitter and retired from Bremco. Michael was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 33 in Jay and American Legion George Bunton Post 10 in Livermore Falls. He enjoyed his family and was known as the “Candy Man” by his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his daughter, Cassidy Whittemore and her companion, Nathan Ray, of Mechanic Falls; brothers; Doug Whittemore and his wife, Debbie, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Wayne Whittemore and his wife, Bouakeo, of Livermore Falls; Robert Whittemore and Scott Whittemore, both of Jay; sisters, Sharon Johnson and her husband, John, of Jay and Lisa Fitzgerald of Rome.
He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Patrick and Lawrence.
