We had lots of correct answers for last week’s mystery photo of the statue of Saint Marguerite d’Youville that is located on the corner of the former Marcotte Home, or Maison Marcotte, now called St. Mary’s Residences, located across from Saint Mary’s Hospital on Campus Avenue in Lewiston. Saint Marguerite was a French Canadian widow who founded the Order of Sisters of Charity of Montreal, commonly known as the Grey Nuns of Montreal, who founded the hospital and helped run an orphanage in the building. Our winner, who lives there, is an Ursuline sister, Angela Krippendors OSU. The Ursuline sisters worked at St. Mary’s school “a long time ago,” said Krippendors. She will receive a $20 gift card, courtesy of Hannaford Supermarkets.
