AUBURN — Piper Norcross netted a pair of goals Friday to lead Edward Little to a 4-2 girls’ soccer victory over Oxford Hills.
Caroline Hammond and Lauren Berube also tallied for the Red Eddies (1-0) to complete the scoring. Julia Colby and Cecelia Dietrich scored for the Vikings (0-1) in the second half.
Taylor Depot made nine saves for Edward Little, while Jillian Douglass deflected four shots for Oxford Hills.
Hall-Dale 2, Spruce Mountain 1
JAY — Sabrina Freeman netted a goal in the second half to give Hall-Dale a 2-1 victory over Spruce Mountain in a girls’ soccer tilt Friday.
Isabella Marino tallied for the Bulldogs (1-0) in the first half, while Calley Baker scored for the Phoenix.
Riley Johnson made three saves for Hall-Dale, while Annabelle Collins turned aside four shots between the posts for Spruce Mountain.
Dirigo 2, Telstar 2
DIXFIELD — Dirigo rallied back from a one-goal deficit to salvage a 2-2 tie against Telstar in another season-opening girls’ soccer matchup Friday.
Aneah Bartlett gave the Rebels (0-0-1) a 1-0 advantage in the first frame, while Emma Kruse tallied after the break. Sonia Chow and Lillie Williams each scored for the Cougars (0-0-1), while Katelyn Ellis contributed with an assist.
Katie Morse made seven saves for Dirigo, while Abby Harrington deflected six shots for Telstar.
Yarmouth 2, Gray-NG 0
YARMOUTH — Sara D’Appolonia and Hannah Corey each scored a goal Friday as Yarmouth hustled to a 2-0 girls’ soccer victory over Gray-New Gloucester.
After a scoreless first half, the Clippers (1-0) put their offense in high gear.
Meredith Lane didn’t need a single save to notch the shutout, while Chelsea Davis turned aside nine shots for the Patriots (0-1).
Monmouth 13, Boothbay 0
BOOTHBAY HARBOR — Sophomore striker Audrey Fletcher tallied four goals as Monmouth stampeded to a 13-0 victory over Boothbay in girls’ soccer action Friday afternoon.
The Mustangs (1-0) posted six goals in the first half. Senior striker Tia Day contributed three goals and three assists.
Goalie Annie Bryer made 13 saves for the Seahawks (0-1), while goalie Destiny Clough stopped seven to earn the win in net for Monmouth.
Maranacook 2, Leavitt 1
TURNER — Kaylee Jones scored from 25 yards out with two minute remaining in the half to lift Maranacook to a 2-1 victory over Leavitt in girls’ soccer action Friday afternoon.
The Eagles scored two first-half goals and held off Leavitt for the opening-day win. Lauren Clough scored midway through the first on a well-placed shot to the lower right corner of the net.
The Hornets tied the game nearly 10 minutes later when freshman Alison Noniewicz redirected a cross from Annika Mitchell.
Field hockey
Mountain Valley 1, Lisbon 0 (2OT)
RUMFORD — Rylee Sevigny converted a pass from sister Avery Sevigny with 5:41 remaining in the second overtime to give Mountain Valley a 1-0 field hockey win over Lisbon.
Alyssa Akers needed only three saves to preserve the shutout, while Mikaylia Harnden turned aside 13 shots between the posts for Lisbon.
The Falcons (1-1) outshot the Greyhounds (0-2) 24-5 yet failed to find the net throughout regulation.
Oak Hill 3, Hall-Dale 0
FARMINGDALE — Desirae Dumais scored twice to pace Oak Hill to a 3-0 victory over Hall-Dale in a MVC contest.
Her first goal came in the first half which was assisted by Magan Sheehy while her second came in the second half. Lexi Faucher made it 3-0 as the play was set up Adelle Surette.
Oak Hill outshot the Bulldogs 20-0. Mia Rollins had 19 saves for Hall-Dale (1-1). Makenzie Thibeault was in goal for Oak Hill (2-0).
Spruce Mountain 4, Dirigo 1
JAY — Emily Goding helped Spruce Mountain get out in front early with two goals in the Phoenix’s 4-1 victory over Dirigo.
Freshman Hanni Johnson notched Spruce Mountain’s third goal as she put home a rebound from a Morgan Dalton shot. Mikensie Parker scored off a penalty stroke late in the contest for the Phoenix (2-0).
Sophie Jacques scored for Dirigo (0-2).
Sydney Shaffer made five saves for Spruce Mountain while Morgan Morrow made 17 saves for the Cougars.
Boys’ soccer
Waynflete 6, St. Dom’s 1
AUBURN — Gary Millspaugh and Askar Houssein netted two goals each on Friday to propel Waynflete to a 6-1 romp over St. Dom’s in a season-opening boys’ soccer tilt.
Thorne Kieffer and Ilyas Abdi also tallied for Waynflete (1-0) to complete the scoring.
Ethan Bosse scored for the Saints (0-1) in the second half to prevent a shutout. Luca Antolini made eight saves for Waynflete, while Matt Gosselin deflected 18 shots for St. Dom’s.
Edward Little 9, Oxford Hills 3
PARIS — Joel Musese netted four goals and dished off an assist to propel Edward Little to a 9-3 boys’ soccer rout over Oxford Hills on Friday.
Alex Thompson also scored for the Red Eddies (1-0) in a well-balanced attack.
The Eddies outshot the Vikings (0-1) 21-8 in the offensively-lopsided contest.
