WATERFORD — The 18th Waterford Fall Foliage 5K Road Race and 5K Fitness Walk and one mile Fun Run will commence once again on Sunday, October 8 on the Waterford Common.
The one mile Fun Run for ages 12 and under will start at 11:30 a.m. and is free for all the kids running. All kids participating will receive ribbons. The 5K Road Race will start at noon, right after the Fun run kids are all back. The 5K course covers Rt 35/37 and part of the Sweden Rd. Roads will be closed at 11:20 a.m.
The Waterford/Harrison PTO will once again host the chili cook-off, with free samples for all the runners. Cost for others is $5. The chili will be served after the race around 12:30 p.m The PTO will also be selling hot dogs and baked goods. An awards ceremony featuring medals, maple syrup and honey will follow the race. Maple syrup is provided by Dottie Bell, Thunder Hill Farm and honey provided by Ryan Holt.
The race fee is $20 for pre-registration, and $25 for same day sign up. Family rates are available. The first 100 5K pre-registered will receive our long sleeve T-shirts.

The popular event is held in memory of longtime local educator Tony Waldeier and has given close to $60,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors attending Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
