AUGUSTA — Wesley Elton Bard, 81, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 8 at the Hospice Division of the Togus VA Center.
He was born in Lisbon Falls on Dec. 20, 1935, the third child of Leon E. and Agnes (Card) Bard. He graduated with honors from Lisbon High School in 1956 and then proudly enlisted into the U.S. Air Force.
Since teenage years, Wesley was known for his musical interests which included violin, organ, bell lyre and for his lifetime love and great talent as a pianist. In 1981, Wesley was married to his “one and only,” Denise Newcomb of Hallowell. Together they enjoyed their membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where Wesley could also continue his love of religious music as organ master. Denise and Wesley shared 27 very good years together and with friends and family.
Wesley is survived by his sisters, Ruth and her husband, Austin Daggett of Coleman, Fla., Allison Miller and her friend, John Winn Jr. of Durham, Miriam and her husband, Stanley Wheeler of Bowdoin; and his brothers, Ralph and his companion, Charlotte Farnum of Lisbon Falls and Leon Jr. and his wife, Carol of Bowdoin; and many nieces and nephews.
Wesley was predeceased by his wife and his parents, his brother-in-law, Daniel Miller and his sister-in-law, Nancy Bard.
