Ski Museum receives grant
KINGFIELD — The Ski Museum of Maine has received a $25,000 grant from the H. King & Jean Cummings Charitable Fund of the Maine Community Foundation to renovate the current gallery space located in downtown Kingfield.
The grant will allow the museum to update its facility with new lighting, flooring and new displays. The museum renovations are scheduled to be completed in November and a grand re-opening is tentatively planned for Friday, Nov. 24.

College planning workshops announced
LEWISTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host free workshops, “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults 19 and over at the following times and locations:
• Western Maine University & Community College Center, 232 Main St., Paris, at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30.
• Lewiston Career Center, 5 Mollison Way, at 10 am. and noon Thursday, Nov. 2, and Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Home tour raises $20K
WAYNE — The Wayne Home Tour on Sept. 9 raised $20,000 to benefit the Cary Memorial Library and Wayne Community Church.
Visitors from as far away as Texas and California toured seven waterfront homes, Wayne Community Church, Cary Memorial Library, the Williams House and Sustain Wayne’s restoration project at the Masonic Hall.
Jones Dance Band to perform
BUCKFIELD — The Jones Dance Band will play from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 30, Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28, at the Masonic Hall.
Admission is $5.
Saturn, Pleiades in view of observatory
PARIS — Twitchell Observatory’s Monthly Open Observatory Night will be held from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, or Saturday, Oct. 7, on Hooper Ledge Road if skies are clear.
Saturn is still visible along with Pleiades, an open star cluster. There will also be good views of the moon and more.
The event is free. The date will be confirmed on the observatory’s website.

PARIS — An inside yard sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the VFW Hall, 58 Main St.
