SOUTH PARIS — Marlene M. Perry, 85, of Norway, died Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris.
She was born April 9, 1932, in Oxford, a daughter of W. Stanley and Gladys (Thurlow) Haskell. She attended local schools, graduating from Oxford High School in 1950. She went on to graduate from Bliss Business School the following year.
On May 17, 1952, she married Ernest J. Perry Sr. They made their home in Norway and she worked as a secretary at the Oxford Elementary School. She later worked alongside her husband at the Norway AG Food Store and later retired from L M Longley & Son. In retirement Marlene kept busy helping at a local day care center and volunteering at Ledgeview Nursing Home and the Maine Veterans’ Home.
She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in South Paris and formerly of the Norway American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, animals and dancing.
Marlene is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Wilson and her husband, Gary of Harrison, and Debra Dufault of Turner; a sister, Gladys Inette Conant of Norway; grandchildren, Matthew Dufault, Desiree Michaud and Melissa Dufault; two great-grandchildren, Everett and Leighton Michaud; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest, on May 14, 1997; siblings, Evis Harlow, William Haskell, and Winona Dunn. She will also be greatly missed by her “fur babies,” Chloe, Maggie and Molly.
