LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women has announced its October programming. All morning programs are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The center will be closed Monday, Oct. 9, and all Fridays, except for gardening with Herban Works.
Good Food Bus: 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays. The mobile food market stops in Maine counties, bringing fresh vegetables, fruit and other essential items to where people live, work and play. The bus is a project of St. Mary’s Nutrition Center. An EBT card can be used and get double.
Gardening: 9 a.m. to noon every Friday. Join Herban Works, the social enterprise of the center, to weed, water, prune and prepare products using produce grown at the center.
Herban Works product-making: noon to 2 p.m. every Wednesday. Product-making includes, but not limited to, Calendula Salve, Lavender Eye Masks and Salt Herbs to be sold at the Lewiston Farmers Market every Sunday.
Soap-Making: Tuesday Oct. 10. Karen, Head to Toe Therapy, will provide material to make soap.
Peasant Pantry Cafe: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12. The cafe features one-pot sustainable meals from different countries. This month, the dish is white bean soup with homemade bread. The meal is open to the public free, and donations are welcome.
Holiday Crafts: Tuesday, Oct. 3, Wednesday, Oct. 11, (12:30 to 1:30 p.m.), Tuesday, Oct. 17, and Tuesday Oct. 24. The center will provide all the material to make holiday crafts to be sold at the annual holiday fair on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Free flu shots: 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19. USMLA nursing students will provide the shots. Sign up at the center or call.
What’s Cooking?: Every Wednesday. The center will provide ingredients for guests to cook and create a healthy meal.
Women’s Healing Arts Circle: Thursdays, Oct. 5 and 19. The center will continue to host Dr. Maryam Mermay as she leads a circle intended for women seeking to heal any source of grief through a lifegiving and playful connection with the arts.
Art Van: Wednesday, Oct. 25.
October Birthday Celebration: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25.
Bingo: Tuesday, Oct. 26.
Halloween Party: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26. Wear a costume. Crafts, games and a light lunch.
Clothing giveaway: Suspended until further notice.
All women are welcome, programs are offered free and no appointments are needed.
