JAY — The Jay-Niles Memorial Library is sponsoring two adult reading groups, one focusing on Maine and the other a book and film group.
In the Maine book group, the authors and/or the subject is Maine. The other group reads a book that has been adapted into a film, watches the film and discusses the two.
Book and Film Discussion Group is scheduled at 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Media will be:
• Oct. 18: “Zookeeper’s Wife” by Diane Ackerman, film rated PG-13;
• Nov. 22, “Hidden Figures,” Margot Lee Shetterly, film rated PG;
• Dec. 20, “Rosewater,” Maziar Bahari, film rated R;
• Jan. 24, 2017, “Lion,” Saroo Brierley, film rated PG-13;
• Feb. 21, “The Danish Girl,” David Ebershof, film rfted R;
• March 21, “A Street Cat Named Bob,” James Bowen, film unrated;
• April 18, “Man Called Ove,” Frederik Backman, film rated PG-13;
• May 23, “The Glass Castle,” Jeannette Walls, film rated PG-13; and
• June 20, “The Circle,” Dave Eggers, film rated PG-13.
Maine Book Group is schedule for 6 p.m. Wednesdays. The books are:

• Nov. 29, “The Stars Are Fire,” Anita Shreve;
• Dec. 27, “Bitter Crossing,” D.A. Keeley;

• March 28, “Salt House,” Lisa Dufy; and
