AUBURN — Central Maine Community College’s women’s and men’s basketball teams both took care of business against Vermont Tech on Sunday
The women bounced back from their first loss of the season to rout the Knights 97-32.
Kristen Huntress led the Mustangs with a career-high 18 points, including three 3-pointers, and made five steals. Jay’s Alex Bessey also hit three treys and finished with 16 points. Edward Little graduates Jordyn and Brooke Reynolds also made major contributions: Jordyn had 13 points, five assists and five rebounds, while Brooke put up 10 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
CMCC (3-1) forced 44 turnovers, including 30 steals, and had 29 assists on 37 field goals.
The CMCC men remained unbeaten by pulling away late in a 74-67 victory at Kirk Hall.
The Mustangs tried to use their depth and a full-court press the entire game to wear down Vermont Tech, but the Knights hung tough until CMCC took a six-point lead with six minutes left and never looked back.
Cody Tozier, Charles Cedre and Corey David each contributed 11 points apiece for CMCC (4-0). Aussie Cam Duncan returned after being out three weeks and scored eight points.
