This letter is in response to Nancy Lecompte’s letter (Nov. 6) regarding your article on Mollyockett.

I bought a copy of this Sun Journal in order to keep the article. I got it back out and re-read the article and can find no discriminatory or inflammatory remarks.

It is actually to the contrary. I read the article while waiting for my meal at one of the local Rumford restaurants. I have been here for over two weeks, working the night shift at the I.P. mill in Jay.

I was so intrigued by the article, that on my day off I rode back to Andover to seek out her grave. I had met some nice folks at the store on the corner the previous weekend while sightseeing and knew they would steer me in the right direction.

After finding the cemetery, I met a very nice gentleman who had been intrigued by the article as well, and we finished our search together.

After taking pictures and leaving tribute, I proceeded in the general direction I felt this medicine woman may have traveled. I stopped at the motel named in her honor to take pictures of the mural mentioned in the article. The lady who works there was so kind and thoughtful, she ran me a four-page article off on her computer with factual and historical information.

As a traveler and history buff, your article was a great launch pad for an adventurous and informative outing.
