Plan on attending the 1st annual fishing derby being held at the Reflection Pool in Rumford on July 4. There will be 3 tagged fish; one with a red tag, one with a white tag, and one with a blue tag. The person catching the red tagged fish will receive $500, the person catching the white tagged fish will receive $200, and the person catching the blue tagged fish will receive $100. The entry fee is $5 for an hour of fishing; cast fishing only. This is a catch and release event; you can’t keep the fish that you catch. If none of the tagged fish are caught, the top 3 people catching the largest fish will win consolation prizes of $100, $50, $25 respectively for 1st, 2nd and 3rd largest fish caught that day. Children ages 10 and under that participate will be entered into a raffle for merchandise from Bass Bog Tackle in Peru. Bring your own fishing pole and worms and see if you can catch the “big one.” This is shore fishing only; no boats allowed. All proceeds will benefit the Moontide festivities.
The derby starts at 7 a.m. and goes until 6:30 p.m. Don’t let these fish get away!
