By Joseph Manley, Student, McMahon Elementary School
The McMahon Elementary School Tiger Times is a regular newspaper run by a team of eight kids. Our April issue includes an article about how the sixth graders recently dissected squid, an interview with a third grader, and an interview with a teacher. Our game page includes a crossword puzzle with a maze and a poll. We usually have that kind of stuff. We’re an average school newspaper that writes about what the kids want to read about.
Like any other newspaper team, we’re more than a group of kids working together. We’re a team of friends. Some of us have been friends since second grade. The most valuable part of our team is our friendship. We all know each other and are friends, so if someone is struggling with an article, someone else will help them out.
Part of the reason we work so hard is that we just finished the days when we used to just flip to the boring teacher interview and then toss it. Everyone wants more than that, so it’s our job to give them that and not back down from our duties. Work hard so others can enjoy. Who doesn’t like that?
